Fall Festival of Praise in Baltimore

Cancer Research Benefit Features Kane

On Friday, 18 November 2005, the South London Fellowship Band, under the direction of Major George Whittingham, held a concert in the Upper Norwood corps hall, for the benefit of Cancer Research UK. The concert also featured the Bromley Temple Songsters with soloist Mark Norwood, and euphonium virtuoso Derick Kane who was joined by his son, Stephen Kane for some duet items.  Read more

Staff Band Visits Ottawa

The Salvation Army in Ottawa, national capital of Canada, celebrated 120 years of service in the city in 2005. Part of the observance of this anniversary was a weekend visit from the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward), which took place 5 – 6 November 2005.  Read more

NYSB Weekend in Ohio

The New York Staff Band had a busy but successful weekend in Northeast Ohio on 28 – 30 October 2005. Despite some potentially serious issues, including having three different fill-in players on solo horn and the illness of the bandmaster, it was described as “one of the most rewarding trips in this decade.”  Read more
