Tomahawk Arts Weekend Features Territorial Songsters

The Southern Territorial Songsters (Leader Dr. Beatrice Holz) visited the Maryland-West Virginia (MWV) Division 18 – 21 October 2018, participating in the Tomahawk Arts Weekend. Events included assisting with instruction at Camp Tomahawk, concerts in Hagerstown and Frederick, Maryland, and Sunday worship in Hagerstown.  Read more

Andrew Burditt Returns to Canadian Staff Band

Bandmaster Andrew Burditt (Oshawa Temple Corps) has rejoined the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam), taking a seat in the solo cornet section. He is a third-generation member of the Staff Band, the son of former Staff Bandmaster Brian Burditt and grandson of William Burditt, both of whom were founding members in 1969. He originally joined the band in 1994 and served for a total of 16 years before rejoining the band in September 2018.  Read more

NYSB Launches New Signature and Heritage Series

The New York Staff Band and the USA Eastern Territory Music Department have launched two new music series, the Signature Series and the Heritage Series. The Signature Series replaces the Music Department’s current Triumphonic Collection. It will feature three new pieces each year. The Heritage Series will consist of reprints of popular pieces from the American Band Journal that are out of print. It will feature one piece per year.   Read more

Thunder Bay Weekend for Canadian Staff Band

The 50th Anniversary Season of the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) is well underway. The first stop on the Staff Band’s Canada-wide “tour” was in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on the weekend of 13 – 14 October 2018. he event commemorated 125 years of Salvation Army service in Thunder Bay.  Read more

SLFB Long Weekend in Blackpool and Carlisle

On the long weekend of 28 – 30 September 2018, the South London Fellowship Band (Conductor Darrell Scholes) visited the northwest of England, with events in Blackpool and Carlisle. Despite challenges with travel and accommodations, the trip was ultimately successful and satisfying, with two concerts and Sunday morning worship during the trip.  Read more

Enfield Pre-Contest Festival Features Fountain and Cordner

Enfield Citadel Band (Bandmaster Don Jenkins) returned to St. John’s, Smith Square, for this year’s Pre-Contest Festival. The concert featured James Fountain (cornet/trumpet) as guest soloist and Major Martin Cordner as compère, guest conductor, and featured composer.  Read more
