The Brass Crest Launches 2-Part Hymn Series
The Brass Crest is proud to announce the launch of its 2-Part Hymn Series. While serving as an instructor at a summer music camp, the webmaster of the Brass Crest was struck with the difficulty of finding two-part arrangements of hymn tunes. This series presents simple 2-part arrangements of hymn tunes, downloadable in PDF format.
Song Without Words
With parts not too demanding, this solo suits up-and-coming cornet players that would like the chance to fulfil their moment in the spotlight. The gentle ballad flow of the solo would work well at any concert occasion and is open to youth bands as well as more seasoned senior bands.
Seren Fach
This work combines the famous melodies of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “Brahm’s Lullaby”. Playable by most standards of bands, this slow melodic piece fits easily into any concert program and provides a chance to showcase lyrical solo playing and delicate accompaniment skills.
Birmingham Citadel Pre-Contest Concert
Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) were once again pleased to perform in the foyer of Birmingham Symphony Hall before the commencement of the British Open brass band contest on 10 September 2016.

This three-movement suite in an “action movie” style was commissioned by Hempstead Citadel Band for their anniversary celebrations in 2013.
