On the weekend of 1 – 2 April 2017, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) had the opportunity to fellowship and minister with two different yet similar congregations in Pickering, Ontario. At both St. Paul’s on-the-hill Anglican Church and the Salvation Army Hope Community Church, the Staff Band experienced a warm reception from wonderful people.

Amsterdam Staff Band April Weekend
The Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) spent its April ministry weekend in various towns, including Leiden, Vlaardingen, and Rijnsburg. The band performed an outdoor concert, an evening festival, and split into three ensembles to participate in Sunday worship at the Gouda, Maassluis, and Leiden corps.
God and Country Weekend 2017
On Friday, 31 March 2017, the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance) headed to Columbus, Ohio, to take part in this year’s God and Country Concert held at the Church at Mill Run, in conjunction with the Brass Band of Columbus (Musical Director Brian Stevens).
Fusion at Regent Hall
The title of the program at Regent Hall Corps on 25 March 2017 was Fusion, one of many hints that the International Staff Band (Bandmaster Dr. Stephen Cobb) would be seen as never before. But no one could have been prepared for the wealth of music – traditional and contemporary, brass and vocal, played by musicians young and old.
Tovey Leads Open Rehearsal
On Thursday, 23 March 2017, the Metropolitan Division Music and Arts Department, in conjunction with the USA Central Territorial Music and Gospel Arts Department hosted an open rehearsal with the Chicago Staff Band (Bandmaster Dr. Harold Burgmayer) led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Bramwell Tovey.
Future All-Stars 2017
Friday, 17 March 2017, brought together 66 enthusiastic brass and percussion players, 30 members of the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance), two incredible guests, two support staff, and three pastoral officers gathered at Star Lake Lodge in Bloomingale, New Jersey, for the 2017 Future All-Stars weekend. This year’s special guests were James and Thomas Fountain, two young cornet/trumpet soloists with British brass band and Salvation Army background.
Phase 1 of the Two-Part Hymn Series Complete
The first phase of the Brass Crest Two-Part Hymn Series is complete with the release of the last twenty tunes, bringing the total number of tunes available to 120. These simple 2-part arrangements are free to download and use.
23rd Annual Concert in West Wickham
The South London Fellowship Band (Musical Director Darrell Scholes) commenced its 23rd annual visit to Emmanuel United Reform Church, West Wickham on 17 March 2017 with My God and King, Paul Sharman’s prelude on the hymn tune “Luckington”, originally composed for the International Staff Band’s 120th anniversary celebration. This was one of several “first performances” for the Fellowship Band that evening.

Fellowship Band Concert in Bognor Regis
The Solent Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Dan Redhead) presented a concert at Opengate Baptist Church, Bognor Regis, on Friday, 5 May 2017. A near-capacity crowd welcomed the band in the modern, spacious church with excellent acoustics.
