On the weekend of 20 – 21 October 2018, the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance) was in the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware (Pendel) Division, specifically visiting the Lancaster Citadel Corps.
The Southern Territorial Songsters (Leader Dr. Beatrice Holz) visited the Maryland-West Virginia (MWV) Division 18 – 21 October 2018, participating in the Tomahawk Arts Weekend. Events included assisting with instruction at Camp Tomahawk, concerts in Hagerstown and Frederick, Maryland, and Sunday worship in Hagerstown.

Bandmaster Andrew Burditt (Oshawa Temple Corps) has rejoined the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam), taking a seat in the solo cornet section. He is a third-generation member of the Staff Band, the son of former Staff Bandmaster Brian Burditt and grandson of William Burditt, both of whom were founding members in 1969. He originally joined the band in 1994 and served for a total of 16 years before rejoining the band in September 2018.
This beautiful flügelhorn solo is a welcome addition to any Christmas concert program. With sympathetic scoring throughout, this piece is not technically demanding for either the band or the soloist, but relies on lyrical playing.
Yuletide Rhapsody is a journey through some festive favorites, put together as you’ve never heard them before. Featuring all sections of the band in a variety of different styles, the work also throws in a few surprises to keep audiences on their toes.
