Scottish Salvationist Paul Drury, one of the bright young stars in the brass band composition scene, has been appointed Composer-in-Residence to the [bclink id=”1696″ target=”_blank”]. This is the first time in the 146-year history of the band that a person has been named to this position. Drury has been a member of the band’s tuba section for eighteen months, serving as the principal Eb bass soloist. His march Jubilee, was used by the [bclink id=”941″ target=”_blank”] during their recent North American tour and was the title track on the tour recording. Jubilee was played by [bclink id=”1697″ target=”_blank”] at the Brass in Concert contest at Spennymoor on 21 November 2004, and received recognition as “Best March” for the contest, helping propel Sellers to a second-place finish.
