The Coventry City Band of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster Steve Whitmore) joined with the Central Warwickshire Singers (Director Sheila Russell) and The Sound of Three Spires, a barbershop singing group, for the 29th Christmas Carol Evening at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa, held on 3 December 2004. The event was organized by the Committee of the AP XXV Club.
The band began the evening with The Shining Star (Peter Graham), a march-medley of well-known carols. The band also accompanied the audience for singing, with a total of seven “sets” of carols for the audience. Huw Ellis, Deputy Bandmaster, was featured in a rendition of Who Is He? (arr. Richard Phillips), which bridges the key events of Christmas and Easter. The band also played William Himes’ arrangement of White Christmas and a transcription of Leroy Anderson’s class Christmas medley, A Christmas Festival. A Christmas message was brought by Reverend Richard Suffern.
