The Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) announced the addition of a new member and the return of an alumni member to active service in September 2013.
Bill Way, first trombone, is no stranger to the Staff Band, having served for nine years (1985 – 1994). Originally from Gander, Newfoundland, Way now works as a certified financial planner in Toronto. A former bandmaster at Agincourt Temple, he currently attends Yorkminster Citadel, wher he is active in the senior band and songsters and leads the beginners band. Known for his skills on the piano, he has often accompanied the Festival Chorus for programs at Roy Thomson Hall as well as at other large Salvation Army meetings in and around Toronto.
Brendan Rawlins, second trombone, is a graduate of the University of Toronto and is proficient on both euphonium and trombone. Originally from Northridge Corps in Newmarket, he now attends North York Temple where he is active in the senior band. Continuing a family Staff Band legacy, Brendan is the brother of Cameron Rawlins and the grandson of Staff Band alumnus Arthur Dean.
