The [bclink id=”952″ target=”_blank”] (Bandmaster Yvonne Ferguson) traveled to Kincardine on Friday, 13 September 2013 to provide an evening of music and worship in Tulliallan and Kincardine Parish Church. This was the first time that the band has visited this church. It was evident from the time that the band arrived that the church had been looking forward to the visit for some time.
Soloists for the night included Amy McMillan (soprano cornet) with Silver Threads, Daniel McMillan (vocal), Brian Allan with the Andante from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C (with band accompaniment arranged by Chris Shanks) and assistant YP bandmaster Chris Shanks (euphonium) with Benedictus.
The band played well throughout the program, but special mention must be made of the band’s first-ever performance of The Kingdom Triumphant (Eric Ball). During the interval, the band had opportunity to talk with the audience, and several mentioned how much they had enjoyed this piece. Another special moment was Guardian of My Soul (Darren Shaw), a piece which has become one of the band’s particular favorites.
