The [bclink id=”952″ target=”_blank”] of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster Yvonne Ferguson) took their place in the Bellshill Remembrance Day march to the cenotaph. During a short service, led by Major Chris Connelly, representatives from local churches and organizations laid wreaths at the monument.
For the last several years, retired bandsman Henry (Harry) Gemmell has laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of the Salvation Army. This year, despite now being 93 years old, Gemmell was still able to perform this duty.
At the end of the short service, the band marched back to its current home at Bellshill Cultural Centre. It was particularly pleasing the Harry Gemmell was able to join with the band on this march.
Also, following his recent transfer from Govan Citadel, Alex Ramsey took his place for his first engagement with the Bellshill Band during the march.
