The [bclink id=”1009″ target=”_blank”] (Musical Director Darrell Scholes) was privileged to be invited to perform two on-hour concerts in the Windsor Castle bandstand in July 2017. The bandstand is located at the historic castle, just a hundred meters or so from the private residence of Her Majesty, The Queen. The organizers of the event estimated that over 1500 people stopped to listen and take photographs, many of them tourists from overseas, before continuing on to see the attractions.
Bandmaster Scholes chose music that would be appealing to the casual listeners. The program consisted of bright, happy marches and selections, interspersed with meditations on well-known hymns. The band’s soloists were in top form, with contributions from Alan Moyse (cornet), Craig Finch (flügelhorn), Adrian Horwood (euphonium), and the trombone ensemble.

It was an ideal day to present two fine brass band programs, with the sun beaming down and not a cloud in the sky. For many of the band members, this visit was probably the first occasion where they found themselves performing in such a setting – memorable and very special.
