Matthew Woods has been appointed Songster Leader at [bclink id=”1027″ target=”_blank”].

Originally from Portsmouth, UK, Woods has lived in the United States since 2006. He grew up attending the Salvation Army as his church home since he was a few days old and showed a keen interest in all of the music that was around him at home and at “The Army”. Often in a Sunday meeting as a young boy, he would be wielding a “baton”, imitating the bandmaster. He became involved in the Singing Company and Y. P. Band as soon as he could and grew up participating in Salvation Army music-making.
Woods is most respected for his vocal abilities and choral conducting, but playing cornet in the band was his first love. He participated in Youth Chorus because it was a great way to meet folks and “have a laugh”. Soon the combination of text and melody struck a chord with him and is a large part of his faith foundation. Singing words which “speak life and light”, this is what he wishes to pass on to others the come under his leadership.
