German Staff Band in Berlin

The German Staff Band (Bandmaster Heinrich Schmidt) was in Berlin on the weekend of 13 – 14 October 2018. The weekend featured a march and open air, a concert with Chor Zeitzünder, and Sunday morning worship at Berlin Sudwest Corps.

The weekend began on Saturday with a march and open air. The weather was great and the band was at its best. The Staff Band then joined with their guests for the evening concert, Chor Zeitzünder, for a rehearsal.

Items featured by the Staff Band in the evening concert included The Kingdom Triumphant (Eric Ball), In the Love of Jesus (Sam Creamer) featuring an excellent trombone solo by Damian Lingard, The Witness, and Sweet By and By featuring Alexander Valerstein. The Staff Band again used September as an encore, joining with the chorus.

On Sunday morning, the Staff Band was at Berlin Sudest Corps for a blessed meeting. Contributions from the band included Call of the Gospel (Martin Cordner), People Need the Lord (arr. Howard Davies), In His Light, and I Will Enter His Gates, the latter two items both composed by Niels Silfverberg. It was encouraging that there were so many in the congregation, which showed overwhelming appreciation of the music.
