The monthly magazine for Salvation Army brass musicians and bands, SA Bandsman, has been relaunched under the new title SA Band World, following a three-month break in publication. SA Band World will be published by the publisher of Brass Band World, Kapitol Media Ltd., for its owner, Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd. (SATCoL). Andrew Blyth has been named Editor of the renamed publication.
The suspension of publication, from July to September 2018, was due to the sale of British Bandsman by KGC Media Ltd., which had been publishing and distributing SA Bandsman for SATCoL. The managing director of SATCoL, Trevor Caffull, apologized for the break in publication caused by the sale negotiations, and explained that the decision by the new owners of British Bandsman to offer that publication online only led SATCoL to seek a new publishing partner.
Caffull also announced that the Editor of the relaunched magazine will be Andrew Blyth, who succeeds the founding Editor of SA Bandsman, Andrew Wainwright. Wainwright has recently been named as Editor of British Bandsman, under its new owners, IBB Media. Caffull thanked Wainwright for his service since SA Bandsman’s inception in 2011. Of Blyth, Caffull remarked, “Andrew Blyth comes with a worldwide and world-class reputation in SA music-making circles, and we are very excited that he has taken this important role.”
In recompense for the three-month hiatus in publication, the renewal dates for SA Band World subscriptions will be delayed three months, ensuring that there is no financial loss to current subscribers.
