Harvest Festival in Carleton Rode

Saturday, 6 October 2012 saw the Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Richard Woodrow) give a concert at the Parish Church as part of the Harvest Festival at Carleton Rode. Over a number of years, the band has traveled to this rural and isolated village to give a Christmas concert, but because of the band’s busy engagement diary, this year’s visit was brought forward to Harvest time. The relatively warmer weather and a successful evening resulted in the band being booked once again for Harvest 2013.

Items for the first half of the evening included Ein Feste Burg, Light Up the Sunshine, Fill the World with Glory! and New Frontier. After the interval, music played included Impact, Soli Deo Gloria, Swedish Folk Song and Heavenward.

Soloists for the evening included David Winch (horn) who played You Love Me, Daniel Beattie (euphonium) who played We’ll All Shout Hallelujah and Matthew Peek (cornet) who played In the Love of Jesus. The Band Chorus also sang It Took a Miracle.
