The closing curtain on the 2012 season for the London Central Fellowship Band (Bandmaster David Daws) was a return visit to Abbots Langley Parish Church, where the band had performed two years before. As before, the event coincided with the church’s Flower Festival. The house was almost full, with a warm and appreciative audience.
Although suffering from some absences because of the onset of the holiday season, the band presented a varied program. Featured soloists included David Marley (cornet) with Life’s Pageant (Terry Camsey) and Ken Stones (euphonium) with Valse (arr. Mark Freeh). Brian Huke brought contrast with Now I Belong to Jesus (Norman J. Clayton, arr. William Broughton). Other soloists included Jim Rogers (Flügelhorn), Caroline Seredynski (piano) and Phil Fisher (tenor horn).
Band items included Bandology, Mini Fantasy on a London Theme, The Front Line and Breezin’ Down Broadway. A time for reflection presented by Jim Street followed a setting of the favorite hymn tune How Great Thou Art.
