A capacity crowd filled Sheffield Citadel on Saturday evening and thoroughly enjoyed a festival featuring the Kettering Citadel Band. Items such as Celebration (Leslie Condon), Fire in the Blood (Paul Lovatt-Cooper), Metamorphosis (Richard Phillips) and Domi, Jesu (arr. Andrew Wainwright) were presented during the concert.
Soloists featured during the evening were Gary Rose (euphonium) and Adam Goldsmith (trombone) who delighted the audience with their skillful playing of Napoli and Concert Piece for Trombone, respectively. Bandmaster Phillips’ composition Fountains Flowing, for a trio consisting of two cornets and a flügelhorn, also captivated the listeners. This trio was presented by Gary Fountain, Chris Hunt and Michael Barratt, highlighting the brilliant instrumentalism of the three bandsmen.
The Sunday meetings were led by Lt.-Colonel Geoff Burton, a former Divisional Commander, whose vast experience of the Salvation Army throughout the world was inspirational and thought-provoking.
