Numbers 2123 – 2126
2123. Carol Setting – Joy to the World! (Norman Bearcroft)
This setting of the popular Christmas melody is majestic, as befits the original, and could be used as a congregational accompaniment.
2124. Night of Joy (Andrew Wainwright)
This music is based on a traditional Spanish Christmas song, “Cantemos a Maria” (“Let’s Sing to Mary”), and should have a calypso feel throughout.
2125. Dedication (Kenneth Downie)
A setting of Brindley Boon’s beautiful song of dedication, “I Dedicate Myself to Thee”, which first appeared in The Musical Salvationist in November 1950.
2126. Cornet Duet – Synergy (Martin Cordner)
Written for the Melbourne Staff Band’s tour of the UK in 2011, this sparkling cornet duet is build around the tune “The Voice of Jesus” which is associated with words by Catherine Baird, “We’re in God’s army”. The reflective central section is the composer’s own melody to words by Philip Bliss, “Whosoever heareth! shout, shout the sound”.
