A Boy from Brighouse is a 250-page paperback book by David Horsfield about his life of brass music and other things! Throughout a lifetime in music, Horsfield has gained (and given) much pleasure, be it as a player, conductor, adjudicator, concert and contest organizer, record producer or music publisher. His playing career spanned well over thirty years with Clifton and Lightcliffe Band, Brighouse and Rastrick Band, Black Dyke Mills Band and as a founder member and flügelhorn soloist of James Shepherd Versatile Brass. having formed his own publishing company, Kirklees Music, the ensuing thirty years have seen him work with composers at the top level of music publishing and provide music to brass bands all over the world.
The book also includes a free disc with archive recordings from Brighouse and Rastrick Band, Black Dyke Mills Band and James Shepherd Versatile Brass.
