Belfast Temple and Downshire Brass Combined Anniversary Festival

Restored drum presented to Belfast Temple Band at its 125th Anniversary Festival

125 years of banding at Belfast Temple (formerly Ballymacarrett Montpottinger) and 25 years of Downshire Brass (formed from an amalgamation of Reid Memorial Silver Band and Hillsborough Silver Band) were celebrated on 10 October 2015 as Belfast Temple Band (Bandmaster Jack Burch) joined with Downshire Brass (Musical Director Michael Alcorn), vocal soloist Megan McBride and compère Dr. Joe McKee OBE for a concert of celebration through music.  Read more

For the sixtieth year, the Cornwall Youth Brass Band will hold its annual Christmas Course 27 - 30 December 2015. The event features an Open Rehearsal and Audition afternoon on 28 December and concludes with a Gala Concert, 7:00 PM on 30 December 2015 at St. Michael's Church, Newquay.  Read more

German Staff Band 25th Anniversary

In October 2014, the German Staff Band (Bandmaster Heinrich Schmidt) continued its celebration of 25 years of service with an anniversary event in Wellingbüttel, a district of Hamburg. The event included rehearsal and fellowship with former members and an anniversary concert.  Read more

20 Years for South London Fellowship Band

On the weekend of 27 – 28 September 2014, the South London Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Darrell Scholes) celebrated its 20th anniversary. Consett 135 with Amsterdam Staff Band

On the last weekend of May 2014, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) could be found in the United Kingdom! The Staff Band was invited to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the eldest Salvation Army band in the world, the Consett Corps Band. The Staff Band brought with them Ben van Dijk, bass trombonist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, as guest soloist, in conjunction with the release of his new solo recording, World Concerto, which includes the Staff Band as the accompanying group.  Read more

Empress of Ireland 100th Anniversary

The Canadian Staff Band, both in full and in ensemble, participated in numerous observances of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the SS Empress of Ireland. This disaster, the worst maritime accident in the history of Canada, claimed 1,012 lives, of which 167 were Salvationists traveling to an international congress in London, England.  Read more

Canadian Staff Band 45th Anniversary Festival

An air of excitement and anticipation swelled through the capacity audience at Scarborough Citadel, Toronto, on Saturday, 24 May 2014 as they awaited the entry of the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) for its 45th Anniversary Festival. This year’s focus was on honoring Staff Band alumni – 147 in all, including 28 deceased members.  Read more

Nijverdal 125th Features Amsterdam Staff Band

The Salvation Army in Nijverdal, a small town near Almelo and Enschede in the eastern part of the Netherlands, celebrated its 125th anniversary on 3 May 2014 with a concert featuring the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) and the local gospel choir Shine.  Read more

Bermuda Band Featured at Fort Frances Centennial

The West End Corps (West End Community Church) Band (Bandmaster Jerome Astwood) made the long journey from Bermuda to northwestern Ontario to perform at the 100th anniversary celebrations at Fort Frances Corps 3 – 8 April 2014. During the visit, the band played several engagements, including a march through town and multiple concerts, and supported Sunday worship.  Read more
