Philip Cobb, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, plays a selection of trumpet solos, accompanied by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. Released at the Championship Section National Brass Band Championships, Royal Albert Hall, 8 October 2016.
Conducted by Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs, the Central Band of the Royal Air Force has recorded an eclectic mix of items, including several transcriptions of Salvation Army brass band classics.
This recording features solos performed by six members of the Cobb family – Roland, John, Stephen, Roger, Matthew and Philip.
Pearls is the worthy successor to the superb, award-winning Diamonds that Steven Mead recorded with the Central Band of the Royal Air Force in 2012.
