The Red Shield Brass Band (Conductor Dr. Jonathan Corry) has made its first recording, due for release soon. Entitled Spero per Musica (Hope through Music), the recording programmatically mirrors the essence of the Band – bringing hope to those less fortunate within Chicago through music.

On Thursday, 23 March 2017, the Metropolitan Division Music and Arts Department, in conjunction with the USA Central Territorial Music and Gospel Arts Department hosted an open rehearsal with the Chicago Staff Band (Bandmaster Dr. Harold Burgmayer) led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Bramwell Tovey.

Farr Featured at 2016 Pre-Contest Festival

For the 70th time, Enfield Citadel Band presented a Pre-Contest Festival before the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. This year’s concert was held at St. Pancras Church. The guest soloist was tenor horn virtuoso Owen Farr. The band was conducted by Iain Parkhouse of Croydon Citadel, who graciously stepped in after the recent departure of former bandmaster Jonathan Corry for a new appointment in the United States.

Enfield Citadel Band at Long Melford

Enfield Citadel Band opened their 2016/2017 season on 1 October 2016 with a concert in the beautiful setting of Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford. The band was under the guest leadership of Bandmaster Iain Parkhouse of the Croydon Citadel Band. The band was also pleased to have Derick Kane sitting in because of the absence of their usual principal euphonium.

Corry to Chicago

The Enfield Citadel Band announced on 6 September 2016 that its Bandmaster, Dr. Jonathan Corry, has relinquished his leadership of the band and will be taking up an appointment as Director of Music and Gospel Arts for the Chicago Metropolitan Division in the USA Central Territory. No successor was immediately named for the conductor’s post at Enfield.

Teens and young adults gathered over ten days in August 2016 at Camp Wonderland (Wisconsin) for Central Music Institute 2016 (CMI). Under the new leadership of Dr. Harold Burgmayer, the camp saw new and exciting changes that proved that CMI is still “the place to be”.

Cobb Featured in Pre-Contest Festival

On 10 October 2014, the Enfield Citadel Band (Bandmaster Jonathan Corry) presented its 68th annual Pre-Contest Festival. Guest soloist for this year’s concert was Philip Cobb, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra. The event, which was compèred by Paul Hindmarsh, was also a tribute to retired Bandmaster James Williams MBE, celebrating his 70 years of association with Enfield Citadel Band.

Enfield at Brighton Congress Hall

“Into Africa” Raises Thousands for Kenya Trust

The annual “Into Africa” concert, benefiting the Kenya Trust, was held at Staines on 14 June 2014. This year’s concert featured 14-year-old Isobel Daws (trombone) as guest soloist, with the Enfield Citadel Band (Bandmaster Jonathan Corry) and Staines Songsters (Leader Samantha Turner).

NYSB Massachusetts Ministry Weekend

On the weekend of 16 – 18 November 2018, the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance) traveled to the Massachusetts Division for a ministry weekend that included stops in Worcester, Canton, Boston, and Brockton. Brass for GOSH Launched

The London Central Fellowship Band (Bandmaster David Rudd) launched their latest recording with a concert at Regent Hall on 17 November 2018. Just under 300 people were in attendance for a fantastic night of music-making, raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity. All of the profits realized by Citadel Promotions, the producers, will benefit the hospital charity, leading to the title of the recording, Brass for GOSH. Read more
