Maidstone Summer Spectacular

Maidstone Corps held its Annual Summer Spectacular at the Friars in Aylesford on 16 June 2012. The Maidstone Band (Bandmaster Kevin Ashman) was joined by the Regent Hall Songsters this year, treating the audience to an interesting and balanced program.

Proms at Maidstone

The “Last Night of the Proms” evening at Maidstone Corps, held on 10 March 2012, filled the hall to near capacity. The evening was led by Maidstone Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Kevin Ashman. The guest vocal soloist for the evening was Susanne Dymott.

The second away weekend of the year for the International Staff Band (Bandmaster Stephen Cobb) was to the Rock Ferry Corps on 25 – 26 February 2012. The last time that the ISB visited this corps was in 1991.

ISB Helps Black Dyke Celebrate 150 Years

This year, Black Dyke celebrates its 150th anniversary, and the ISB was invited to participate in the celebrations with a joint concert in York Minster, held on Saturday, 1 October 2005. Taking advantage of the paid travel, the ISB completed the weekend by participating in Sunday worship at Clowne.

The Coventry Methodist Central Hall was the venue for the second International Staff Band festival of the fall season, beginning a series of performances in Coventry on the weekend of 30 – 31 October, 2004.

Consett Celebrates 125 Years of Banding

In 1906, an official Board of Enquiry certified that the band at Consett had the honor of being the first Salvation Army Corps Band, with its beginning in 1879. Since the 50th in 1929, major anniversaries of the band’s founding have been occasions for a visit from the International Staff Band.

The Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) has announced, with great sadness, the passing of Bandsman Ken Graham (North York Temple) on 24 December 2018. Graham was a member of the Staff Band cornet section for nine years, 1985–1994. Read more

NYSB Massachusetts Ministry Weekend

On the weekend of 16 – 18 November 2018, the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance) traveled to the Massachusetts Division for a ministry weekend that included stops in Worcester, Canton, Boston, and Brockton. Brass for GOSH Launched

The London Central Fellowship Band (Bandmaster David Rudd) launched their latest recording with a concert at Regent Hall on 17 November 2018. Just under 300 people were in attendance for a fantastic night of music-making, raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity. All of the profits realized by Citadel Promotions, the producers, will benefit the hospital charity, leading to the title of the recording, Brass for GOSH. Read more
