It is now sixteen years since the first invitation was given to the Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) to provide a program of music in the foyer of Symphony Hall prior to the British Open Brass Band Championship. This year’s concert was on Saturday, 8 September 2018.
A leisurely drive by car on Saturday, 29 October 2016, took members of the Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Richard Woodrow) to Wigston, Leicester where they were welcomed at Leicester South Corps for a ministry weekend consisting of a Saturday evening concert, worship services on Sunday morning, and a second musical meeting on Sunday afternoon.
The Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) visited Scotland for a ministry weekend in Bellshill, 18 – 19 April 2015. The weekend consisted of a festival concert on Saturday evening and a worship service and afternoon concert on Sunday.
The Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) had three recording sessions in two days, 10 – 11 October 2014, for a new recording with is due out in December 2014. This recording is a mix of old and new, as the band recorded established classic repertoire from Dean Goffin and Bramwell Coles alongside new music from the pens of Paul Sharman and Martin Cordner.
The Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) made the trip to Luton for the first time on 20 September 2014. The band was there to play a concert in the modern suite of buildings at the Luton Corps of the Salvation Army.
The Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) was delighted to be back at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, for the British Open band contest on 6 September 2014. The band, as in previous years, provided a one-hour concert in the concourse as thousands gathered for this special day in the banding calendar.
Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) was delighted to be back at Hasbury Church in Halesowen on Saturday, 10 May 2014, nearly eight years after the band’s last visit to the church.
Their first “away weekend” of 2014, 1 – 2 March, saw the Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) visit two towns in Greater Manchester. On Saturday evening, the band was delighted to be back in the beautiful hall at Sale and on Sunday the band made the short trip to Stockport.
The annual Proms Night was eagerly anticipated as a large crowd gathered at Birmingham Citadel on 18 January 2014 for an evening of music, reminiscence and celebrations.
On the weekend of 16 – 17 November 2013, the Birmingham Citadel Band (Bandmaster Gavin Lamplough) made the long journey to Norwich for a ministry weekend at Norwich Citadel.
