ASB Weekend in Winschoten

The weekend of 27 – 28 October 2018 saw the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) travel almost as if they were on tour. The band went to Winschoten, Oude Pekela, and Veendam, in the far northeast of the country, almost in Germany. The Winschoten Corps was celebrating its 130th anniversary and had invited the Staff Band to participate in the festivities.

Amsterdam Staff Band April Weekend

The Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) spent its April ministry weekend in various towns, including Leiden, Vlaardingen, and Rijnsburg. The band performed an outdoor concert, an evening festival, and split into three ensembles to participate in Sunday worship at the Gouda, Maassluis, and Leiden corps.

Staff Band in Den Helder

On the weekend of 29 – 30 October 2016, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf J. Ritman) visited the Den Helder Corps for the corps’ 125th anniversary celebrations. This weekend had been planned for some time. Every possible effort was used to make it a success, and this resulted in a fantastic weekend with many highlights, not only for the corps, but for the Staff Band as well.

Ministry Weekend in Beverwijk

On the weekend of 24 – 25 September 2016, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) were the guests of the Kennemerland Corps in Beverwijk, not far from Amsterdam. For quite a long time, the corps was looking forward to have the Staff Band as its guest and to attract people to the Army through the sound of the band. The weekend was more or less managed by former Staff Band cornetist Hedzer van der Giezen, an avid Salvationist and keen brass lover.

Consett 135 with Amsterdam Staff Band

On the last weekend of May 2014, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) could be found in the United Kingdom! The Staff Band was invited to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the eldest Salvation Army band in the world, the Consett Corps Band. The Staff Band brought with them Ben van Dijk, bass trombonist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, as guest soloist, in conjunction with the release of his new solo recording, World Concerto, which includes the Staff Band as the accompanying group.

Nijverdal 125th Features Amsterdam Staff Band

The Salvation Army in Nijverdal, a small town near Almelo and Enschede in the eastern part of the Netherlands, celebrated its 125th anniversary on 3 May 2014 with a concert featuring the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) and the local gospel choir Shine.

Brass for GOSH Launched

The London Central Fellowship Band (Bandmaster David Rudd) launched their latest recording with a concert at Regent Hall on 17 November 2018. Just under 300 people were in attendance for a fantastic night of music-making, raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity. All of the profits realized by Citadel Promotions, the producers, will benefit the hospital charity, leading to the title of the recording, Brass for GOSH. Read more
