The German Staff Band (Bandmaster Heinrich Schmidt) was in Berlin on the weekend of 13 – 14 October 2018. The weekend featured a march and open air, a concert with Chor Zeitzünder, and Sunday morning worship at Berlin Sudwest Corps.

Boscombe to Norwich for 134th Celebrations

Saturday, 22 October 2016, marked the arrival of Boscombe Band (Bandmaster Howard J. Evans) at Norwich Citadel for the 134th anniversary celebration weekend of Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Richard Woodrow). This was a return visit, as the Norwich band had enjoyed a weekend in Bournemouth the previous year.

130th Anniversary Celebration in Tenby

Brilliant autumn sunshine greeted Salvationists and friends as they traveled from across South Wales and gathered in Tenby on 22 October 2016 to celebrate 130 years of the work of the Salvation Army in that town. Morriston Citadel Songsters (Songster Leader Chris Lear) and South and Mid Wales Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Adrian Browning) provided musical support for the day.

Celebrations of Old and New in Pennsylvania

“Celebrating new beginnings to faithful service” could have been the theme as the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Ronald Waiksnoris) traveled to Pennsylvania on the weekend of 17 – 19 April 2015. The weekend began with a concert in State College, followed by centenary celebrations in Carlisle.

Amsterdam Staff Band Weekend in Almelo

On the weekend of 26 – 27 September 2014, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) visited Almelo Corps in the east of Holland, near the German border. The weekend featured joint performances with Gospelkoor Benediction and Fanfare Wilhelmina Almelo.

Maidstone Band at Kent County Show

The Maidstone Band (Bandmaster Nigel Yalden) attended the last day of the Kent County Show on 13 July 2014, as they have done for several years. The band presented two bandstand concerts and accompanied hymns for an ecumenical church service.

Norwich Citadel Band by the Seaside

To finish their season off before the summer break, the Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Richard Woodrow) likes to make a visit to a local seaside corps to lead worship and give outdoor concerts. This year, they were invited back to Great Yarmouth, the largest seaside resort in Norfolk.

Consett 135 with Amsterdam Staff Band

On the last weekend of May 2014, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Bandmaster Olaf Ritman) could be found in the United Kingdom! The Staff Band was invited to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the eldest Salvation Army band in the world, the Consett Corps Band. The Staff Band brought with them Ben van Dijk, bass trombonist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, as guest soloist, in conjunction with the release of his new solo recording, World Concerto, which includes the Staff Band as the accompanying group.

Coventry Weekend for Winton Band

The long-awaited visit of Winton Bournemouth Band (Bandmaster Norry Smith) to Coventry City Corps, 17 – 18 May 2014, was a great occasion. The visit was originally scheduled for March 2013, but had to be cancelled and rescheduled because of snow at that time. The rescheduled weekend fell on the warmest weekend of the year to date.

NYSB Massachusetts Ministry Weekend

On the weekend of 16 – 18 November 2018, the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Derek Lance) traveled to the Massachusetts Division for a ministry weekend that included stops in Worcester, Canton, Boston, and Brockton. Brass for GOSH Launched

The London Central Fellowship Band (Bandmaster David Rudd) launched their latest recording with a concert at Regent Hall on 17 November 2018. Just under 300 people were in attendance for a fantastic night of music-making, raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity. All of the profits realized by Citadel Promotions, the producers, will benefit the hospital charity, leading to the title of the recording, Brass for GOSH. Read more
