Amsterdam Staff Bandmaster Olaf Ritman and Staff Band principal cornet Steef Klepke traveled to Germany on the weekend of 2 – 4 November 2018 as guests of the Western Divisional Band (Bandmaster Ruben Schmidt).
The Eastern Territory Staff Songsters (Songster Leader Gavin Whitehouse) conducted a campaign 4 – 7 October 2018, ministering at three Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) – Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Paterson.
The Ruddick Arts Centre, Edgbaston was the venue for the commencement of Birmingham Citadel Band’s 125th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 22 September 2018. A weekend which, as it progressed, conjured up many happy memories of the band’s consistent ministry in Birmingham and further afield over the years.
Salvo Brass (Musical Director John Broadhurst) met for its first rehearsal of the season on 7 September 2018. The band also reports a few personnel changes.
The ISB (Bandmaster Dr. Stephen Cobb) began rehearsals for the new season on 5 September 2018. The band welcomed some new members, acknowledged the service of departing members, and welcomed visitor and former member Major George Whittingham.
The Flint Citadel Band (Bandmaster Matthew Rowland) was happy to welcome home Bandmaster William Himes for their season-opening rehearsal.
In July 2017, approximately 60 players and another 30 listeners were at Sheffield Citadel for the band’s annual Open Band Practice.
On Thursday, 23 March 2017, the Metropolitan Division Music and Arts Department, in conjunction with the USA Central Territorial Music and Gospel Arts Department hosted an open rehearsal with the Chicago Staff Band (Bandmaster Dr. Harold Burgmayer) led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Bramwell Tovey.
The Govan Band (Bandmaster Chic Ramsay) welcomed Bandmaster Dr. Howard J. Evans and euphonium soloist John Starkes, both of Boscombe Band, as special guests for Band Weekend, 27 – 29 May 2016. Dr. Evans is well-known in Salvation Army and wider brass circles as an outstanding conductor, trainer, pianist, and composer. Starkes is familiar with Govan, having attended the corps for several years prior to his relocation to Bournemouth.
In October 2014, the German Staff Band (Bandmaster Heinrich Schmidt) continued its celebration of 25 years of service with an anniversary event in Wellingbüttel, a district of Hamburg. The event included rehearsal and fellowship with former members and an anniversary concert.
