The Salvation Army’s National Capital Area Command held its second annual “Thanks for Giving” concert on Sunday, 11 November 2018, at the Rachel Schlesinger Hall on the campus of Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Virginia. This seasonal concert has three themes: honoring military service and sacrifice (Veterans Day), giving thanks (Thanksgiving), and the kickoff of the Christmas season. The concert featured the National Capital Band (Bandmaster Dr. Steve Kellner) and noted gospel singer Anthony Brown and his ensemble, group therAPy.
The Dearborn Heights Citadel Band (Bandmaster Tom Hanton) welcomed Brett Tolcher, principal trombone of the Chicago Staff Band, as its guest soloist for its Thanksgiving Concert.
The Flint Citadel Band (Bandmaster Matthew Rowland) held its 81st annual Thanksgiving Concert on Saturday, 23 November 2013 at Whiting Auditorium. Three members of the New York Staff Band, Christopher Ward (soprano cornet), Timothy Ward (tenor horn) and Simon Morton (E♭ bass), were the special guests.
The annual Sounds of the Seasons concert, featuring the Chicago Staff Band (Bandmaster William Himes) and their special guests, Boston Brass, was held in Edman Chapel, Wheaton College, on 26 November 2011.
The Chicago Staff Band (Bandmaster William Himes) presented “Sounds of the Season”, its annual Thanksgiving concert, on 27 November 2010. Special guests for the evening included euphonium soloist Derick Kane and the Salvation Story Steel Orchestra.
The Flint Citadel Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Richard Holman, held its 71st annual Thanksgiving concert on 29 November 2003. The special guest for the evening was pianist William Way.
The National Capital Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Ian Anderson, performed Thanksgiving concerts in Winchester and Alexandria, Virginia during the weekend of 23 – 24 November 2002. Special guest soloists for the weekend were Majors Norman and Lois Garcia.
