In April 2015, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) once again held recording sessions at St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Toronto. The band will be releasing a new Christmas recording, entitled “Fanfare and Celebration for the Birth”, later in the year.
The Canadian Staff Band, both in full and in ensemble, participated in numerous observances of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the SS Empress of Ireland. This disaster, the worst maritime accident in the history of Canada, claimed 1,012 lives, of which 167 were Salvationists traveling to an international congress in London, England.
As usual, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) had a busy month leading up to Christmas, with a parade and three major Christmas concerts in and around Toronto.
Once again, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) had a busy month leading up to Christmas, with all of the usual seasonal concerts and activities, including the Toronto Santa Claus Parade and several holiday concerts.
On Saturday, 14 April 2012, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam) presented a concert at the St. Lawrence Center of the Arts, Toronto. This concert was a part of the annual Festival of Brass sponsored by the Hannaford Street Silver Band.
December 2010 was again a busy month for the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster John Lam), with two annual Christmas events on back-to-back Saturdays.
On the weekend of 19 – 21 November 2010, Salvationists in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, were privileged to host the Rockford Temple Band from Rockford, Illinois. The band traveled to southern Ontario to take part in the Canadian Staff Band’s Fall Festival and to march in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade.
The Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward) formed the nucleus of a 75-piece band as the Salvation Army participated in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade for the first time in over 30 years.
In a departure from their normal style of ministry, the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward) visited the York Mills Collegiate Institute in Toronto on Wednesday, 26 October 2005.
The Salvation Army in Toronto held its second annual ‘Christmas with the Salvation Army’ music and gospel arts celebration at Massey Hall on 4 December 2004.
