The Times reported on 8 October 2008 that the International Staff Band (Bandmaster Stephen Cobb) has signed a contract with Universal Music. One of the largest recording companies in the world, Universal will spend £1,000,000 promoting the recordings, with a prediction that the initial album in the three-disc deal will go platinum before Christmas.
The first CD to be released is entitled Together and, according to The Times report, features “religious, secular and operatic tracks, including In the Bleak Midwinter and Nessum Dorma.” The recording is scheduled for release on 24 November 2008.
None of the 32 musicians in the band will receive any remuneration personally. However, Universal will make a donation of an undisclosed amount to The Salvation Army.
