The Amsterdam Staff Band, under the baton of Staff Bandmaster Howard Evans, will join with trombone virtuosi Ivan Meylemans and Brandt Attema for a concert in Rotterdam on June 28. The concert will be held at the Open Hof Kerkencentrum, Hesseplaats 221, in Rotterdam at 7:30 pm. This special performance commemorates the tenth anniversary of the Rotterdam East Corps of the Salvation Army.
Ivan Meylemans is principal trombone of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Hailing from Belgium, he is a 1994 graduate of the Royal Music Conservatory in Ghent. He is also active as a conductor, winning an international prize at the "Vakhtang Jordania" in Ukraine (2002) and laureate honors at the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in Great Britain.
Brandt Attema has been the bass trombonist of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Holland since 1999. In September of that year he won the an international bass trombone competition in Guebwiller, France. He has been a soloist at the International Trombone Festival (2000).
